Life Can Look Successful On The Outside
and Still Feel Exhausting On The Inside.
You’ve done everything you were supposed to do.
You pushed through. Stayed productive. Took care of everyone else. Built a life that looks “fine” from the outside. But internally, something still feels off.
Maybe your past still shows up in your relationships, your nervous system, your self-worth, or the way you move through the world.
You’re tired of surviving. You want to finally feel at peace within yourself.
Meet Dr. Kimberly Richards
Warm, Direct, and Deeply Invested in Helping People Heal.
I work with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, dissociation, childhood sexual abuse recovery, and complex PTSD.
Many of my clients appear highly functioning on the outside while quietly carrying unresolved pain internally. Together, we work to understand those patterns, process what still feels stuck, and help you feel more grounded, connected, and at peace within yourself.
My approach integrates EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, and trauma-informed care to support deep, lasting healing.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Frequently Asked Questions.
-
Not at all. Many clients come to therapy feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected, anxious, or stuck in patterns they can’t fully explain. Sometimes the pain comes from obvious traumatic experiences, and sometimes it comes from years of emotional overwhelm, chronic stress, difficult relationships, or experiences that taught you to suppress your own needs in order to survive.
-
That’s actually very common in my practice. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable, high-functioning people who appear successful on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, shame, emotional numbness, people-pleasing, dissociation, or a constant sense of internal pressure. Therapy can help you understand why those patterns developed and begin healing what still feels unresolved underneath them.
-
Absolutely. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve spent years minimizing your own pain or taking care of everyone else first. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in emotional safety. There is no pressure to share everything immediately or “perform” healing. We move at a pace that feels supportive and manageable for you.

EMDR is often very different from what people expect. It is not hypnosis or mind control, and you remain fully aware and in control throughout the process. EMDR helps the brain process experiences that may still feel emotionally or physically “stuck,” often reducing the intensity of triggers, anxiety, shame, or traumatic memories over time.
-
Yes. Emotional numbness, dissociation, shutdown, brain fog, or feeling disconnected from yourself can all be protective nervous system responses to overwhelming experiences. Therapy can help you better understand these patterns while gradually rebuilding a stronger sense of grounding, emotional connection, and internal safety.
You Deserve More Than Just Surviving.
